Singapore ✈ Bangkok (Day 1)

In December 2013, A and I travelled again to BKK. Well, the initial plan was to fly straight to Sri Lanka on 23rd Dec to attend a dear friend's wedding. However, knowing the boy, he wanted to go somewhere else so he went to explored the options. After looking through everything, we decided on SIN- BKK - CMB - SING. Cathay had the multi-city option and they fly to Colombo, Sri Lanka so it was our best choice!

Headed to BKK on 21st December..

The meals are not bad, I prefer the rice over the pasta though.

We decided to take the Airport railway to Pratunam area. New mode of transport! Tickets are not that expensive and the travelling time is rather short. Trains are comfy as well!

Even Beary Loke was enjoying the scenery. Heh.

It was quite a walk from Phaya Thai Station to our stay for 3 nights - Boxpackers Hostel. We followed Google Maps but it wasn't very accurate due to closed roads and stuff. Took a bit of time to figure our way over. Boxpacker Hostel is rather new and we decided to give it a shot due to it's good location and very low prices. We figured that we were gonna spend quite a bit in Sri Lanka so we decided to stay in a hostel instead of a hotel in Bangkok. A found Boxpackers Hostel and it looked pretty interesting! We were a bit apprehensive because there wasn't much reviews around and due to the fact that we weren't going to have much privacy. However, we just needed a place to sleep and pack our stuff so that wasn't much of an issue. Our fears were allayed when we reached the hostel. Take a look! It's really nice for a hostel!

Boxpacker Hostel is right next to The Period @ Pratunam and they are actually the same company! Just a matter of getting privacy or not. We had to climb 4 storeys with our luggages but the guy at the reception was kind enough to lug my 11kg luggage up!

We stayed in the mixed 10 dorm because they had 2 double bed pods. It's actually very cheap and comfortable! We spent SGD100 for our 3 nights' stay and it's inclusive of breakfast.

I was very surprised by the size of the pod. Did not expect it to be so big. We had 2 sockets inside, with side bars to hang our clothes and whatnot, and plenty of room at the side to put your valuables.

Lockers for us to keep our luggages and see, there's more than enough space!

And this is a single bed pod. They're very generous with their space :)

Of course, one of the important things we consider about when choosing our hostels is the toilets! So because they had 3 levels of accommodation, the female toilet is on level 2, the unisex toilet is on level 3 and the male toilet is on level 4.

Overall, the toilets are very clean, thanks to the nice people managing Boxpacker Hostel and of course, people staying there too.

If ever you're on a tight budget and looking for a decent accommodation, I'd recommend Boxpacker Hostel! Did I mention that it's within 5-10min walking distance to Platinum Mall? There's also super awesome massage palours on the same street!

It was rather late when we reached Boxpackers so we went out for dinner after!

I love street food ! =P

We went to Ban Khun Mae after reading reviews about the food.

A and I were disappointed by it. Maybe it was due to having high expectations after all the reviews and recommendations. Maybe it was because Ban Khun Mae was packed when we went. Well, it did fill our stomach though!

Took a long walk from Siam back to Boxpacker due to the night market! Heh. My favorite place to shop :D Had a massage before crashing!

Day 2 coming soon (:
